Striving to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, growing in God through uplifting and inspiring spiritual experiences, and serving the community in love.

Our mission is to provide worship that nurtures, uplifts and strengthens individuals to carry on their daily lives while deepening their understanding of the Bible, the church and Christian tradition. We believe that the future of our church lives in our youth, our current membership and growing membership for whom we strive to provide education and opportunities which encourage an open search for faith and fellowship. We are also committed to providing pastoral care for the people in both joy and sorry by ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of the congregation and the community. We set aside special times for members to interact socially. Our doors are open to all who seek to feel God’s presence through worship and fellowship. We endeavor to share the good news, reaching out to the community by participating in activities with other denominations and supporting a variety of missions.

The Fincastle Presbyterian Church is a member of the Reformed Family of Churches dating back to the Protestant Reformation. This family of churches includes some of the Church of England, (“Low Church”), the European Reformed Churches, the Church of Scotland and the Congregational Church. The reformed Church family follows John Calvin in recognizing God’s revelation through nature (natural theology) and through revealed Scripture. Thus is recognized the role of reason in interpreting and understanding Scripture as the guide for all spheres of our life. While there is no complete unanimity in doctrine, the broad consensus of belief can be found in these church’s Confessions. These, from the Apostles’ Creed through the Westminster Confession to the Confession of 67, are all available in the Book of Confessions of the PC (USA). Presbyterians, known as faithful and thinking people thus seek to express the fullness of God’s revelation through these confessions. By doing so, the congregation publicly shares their understanding of God’s will for the church and its service to the community and the world. This understanding is expressed through the worship and teaching of the church, reformed and always reforming.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of the God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen
